Best Christmas Gifts for Investors

July 06, 2022 18 min read

Finding Christmas gifts for investors can be a difficult task. However, if that special someone has a talent for investing, there are a few things you should make sure they have.

Famvibe has compiled a list of Christmas gifts that will put a smile on the face of your favorite investor faster than a 100-point increase in the Dow.

1. HP 12C Calculator

Every financial professional on Wall Street needs a calculator to discount cash flows and calculate internal rates of return on the spot.  And no calculator is better at running these functions than the legendary HP 12C.

2. The Intelligent Investor

Warren Buffett swears by this book, which was written by his favorite finance professor Ben Graham.  This edition includes a preface by none other than Warren Buffett himself.

3. Edison Model Stock Ticker with Glass Dome

Before Yahoo Finance, people got their stock quotes from ticker tape machines.  And the biggest players like JP Morgan had these in their homes.

4. Money Tree

In the east, nothing brings good fortune like a 'money tree.'  Also, it's always nice to have a plant  to help spruce up the office.

5. Huge S&P Indices History Poster

This gorgeous, giant chart of the S&P from 1928 to 2010 not only tracks the major index, but also includes a visual presentation of historical events.

6. Triumph of Optimists

This exhaustive hardcover offers a history of 101 years of global investment returns.

It's a gorgeous coffee table book that dives into data like nothing that's ever been done before.

Investors will love poring through the charts over and over again.

7. Mad Money Bull

Even at the best of times, trading can be stressful. Make sure your favorite investor doesn't get too wound up with this bull stress toy from Mad Money with Jim Cramer.

8. Framed Share Of Stock

A framed share of your favorite stock should go right up on the wall next to your diploma.

9. Subscription to ValueLine

For those who want to do real in-depth research into companies, there's nothing like The ValueLine.

The service provides exhaustive historical data on earnings, ratios, margins, and technicals on a host of companies.

In addition to being incredibly useful, it's also another thing that's a joy to pore through for hours.

10. Coffee Maker

Sure, David Einhorn shorts Green Mountain Coffee Roasters like crazy.  But the company is not the stock, and the company makes great coffee machines.  And you'll need an efficient source of caffeine during the trading session.

11. Ambient Stock Orb

This glass orb changes color from green to red based on whether the stock market is going up or down.

Put one of these in your bathroom so you know if you should be rushing back to your desk.

12. Kiehl's Eye Alert Cream

With long hours and little sleep comes baggy and tired eyes -- the bane of any investor.

13. Books and toys about money

There are many books and toys that encourage a positive relationship with money from a young age. Toy cash registers, pretend money, kid-friendly check books, activity books or workbooks about money, board games involving money, and piggy banks are examples of these.

Because children learn through play, introducing new financial concepts to your child through their imagination is an effective way for them to learn. Reading them a storybook with relatable and loveable characters, such as "The Four Money Bears," can be more effective than waiting until they're older to teach them about money.

14. 529 accounts

Though it's not the most exciting gift, starting a 529 plan for your child when they're young gives them something to look forward to every year as their educational savings grow.

It also opens the door to future conversations and can help your child consider what is possible in the coming years.

Increase your college savings by earning 1.25 percent cash back on every qualifying purchase. Link your card to a 529 College Savings Plan to earn even more on your deposits.

15. Stocks

"Consider purchasing a stock (or stocks) in a child's name, as this teaches your child the value of investing at a young age," Tharp suggests.

Even if they don't make much money, your child can watch the stock's value fluctuate with the market's ups and downs and feel confident enough to invest on their own when they're old enough.

Perhaps you choose a stock in an industry that your child enjoys, such as sports or entertainment. Alternatively, you could use this opportunity to discuss your family's values with your child and/or let them choose a socially responsible company to invest in. Whatever option you choose, it will undoubtedly pique the interest of your future money manager.

16. CDs

The Uniform Gift to Minors Act allows an adult to transfer assets to underage beneficiaries without establishing a trust fund. This is most common between parents and children, but you could also give cash to your grandchild, niece/nephew, godchild, cousin, and so on.

Certificates of deposit, or CDs, are a type of savings account that earns higher interest with one caveat: You can't touch the funds for a set period of time.

CDs, unlike traditional or high-yield savings accounts, have fixed terms ranging from three months to five years. Generally, the higher the interest rate offered, the longer the term. Opening a CD for your child teaches them about banks and introduces them to the concept of planning ahead.

To give a CD, have the child's name, social security number, date of birth, and address ready to provide to the bank.

Check out CNBC Select's list of the best CDs for the best accounts for your short- and long-term savings requirements.

17. Custodial IRA or Roth IRA

If your child is earning money but is under the age of 18, you can set up a custodial retirement account for them. As the custodian, you will be in charge of all assets until they reach the age of 18. (or 21 in some states). However, all funds are theirs.

Custodial IRAs (and custodial Roth IRAs) allow your child to benefit from compound interest by taking advantage of time.

Each type provides tax-deferred growth, but the withdrawal rules differ. You should look into this if you believe the money will be useful before your child retires, such as if they want to use it to pay for college.

18. Session with a financial planner

Working with a financial planner can be extremely beneficial during times of significant transition, such as starting or leaving a job, getting married, starting a family, or making a large purchase. However, there is no harm in getting a financial checkup, and many advisors provide simple planning services, such as apps and client membership websites, for this purpose.

If you want to get a financial planning session for a loved one, look for a fee-only fiduciary who charges a flat fee, rather than someone who is paid on commission or by how much their clients earn in the market. It's more straightforward that way, which is preferable when money and relationships are involved.

A membership to a company like Ellevest is another simple way to give financial planning. Sign up a friend or family member for a monthly membership at various tiers, with each package including a variety of services.

19. DJI Mavic Air 2

Drones provide a bird's eye view of the terrain and rooftops while inspecting a site and can aid in project documentation and marketing.

Our drone has been a tremendous asset to the company, and we use it almost every day. We've even used it while on tour to inspect the roof of an apartment complex so that we could make an offer right away.

The DJI Mavic Air 2 is an ideal drone for real estate because it is compact, light, and simple to operate, allowing both seasoned professionals and newcomers to make the most of this machine.

20. Canon EOS M50

A high-quality camera is an extremely useful tool for real estate investors in a variety of ways.

They enable you to take professional-quality photos and videos of projects such as:

  • Before and after pictures
  • Videos of the renovation process
  • Photos for marketing
  • Footage from YouTube or social media

The Canon EOS M50 is an ideal real estate camera because it can easily accommodate a variety of lenses for different photography styles, it connects to your phone via Bluetooth so you don't have to worry about downloading the shots later, and it has a flip screen display, which is ideal if you want to start a vlog-style Youtube channel about your real estate projects.

21. The Millionaire Real Estate Investor Gary Keller's

His book is a step-by-step guide to becoming a successful real estate investor, including each significant milestone along the way. The author interviews a number of wildly successful investors from across the country and shares their stories as well as advice on how to grow as they have.

Being successful in real estate investing is all about having the right mindset and attitude, which The Millionaire Real Estate Investor can help you develop.

22. The Ricoh Theta V

2022 made us realize how important it is to have a strong online marketing presence when it comes to showing our listings.

The Ricoh Theta V not only improves your marketing by allowing potential residents, commercial tenants, or buyers from across the country to take a 3-D tour of your available space, but it also assists you in documenting every nook and cranny within a project.

This 3-D camera is extremely easy to use; simply connect it to your smartphone, leave the room, and press the photo button. The camera then captures a 3-dimensional image of the room, which you can then combine with other images to create "doll house" views and floor plans.

Because they could weed themselves out, these virtual tours significantly reduced the amount of time we spent showing space to seemingly interested prospects who simply didn't like some aspect of the interior.

23. High Quality Blue Pen

Don't underestimate the power of a high-quality writing tool.

Real estate agents are constantly signing documents, contracts, and checks, and many of these legal documents will require blue ink.

By far the best pen I've ever used is the Uni-ball 207 Impact Gel Pen. But be warned: they tend to vanish because everyone else loves them as well!

Every signature and checkmark will appear professional and bold.

24. Skyline Art

No one loves and appreciates city skylines more than real estate professionals!

Especially the skyline, which represents the personality and attitude of the city they call home.

From Nashville to Warsaw, Trademark Fine Art offers a variety of city skylines on canvas. They come in a variety of sizes and look great on your office walls or propped up on a desk.

These pieces are of high quality and would make an excellent gift.

25. Leather-Bound Padfolio

Leather-bound notebooks bring a certain amount of prestige and professionalism to anyone carrying them.

They will not only help you organize your notes and cards, but they will also present a stronger image of the owner and will last for a long time.

This Forevermore Padfolio is made of high-quality materials, is long-lasting, and can hold a wide range of everyday items. This padfolio has everything you need when meeting prospects and touring sites, from cell phones to 8.5"x11" notepads.

You can select from a wide range of colors to best suit your loved one.

26. Portable Phone Charger

I can't even begin to tell you how frequently I use this phone charger.

When your entire job revolves around making and answering phone calls, responding to text messages and emails, researching property information, calculating investment returns, and so much more, your phone's battery will be constantly depleted.

When you need a quick boost but don't have the time to leave your phone plugged in and out of your hands, a slim-profiled portable phone charger can really come in handy.

This Anker PowerCore is tough, lightweight (just throw it in your padfolio! ), and can charge your phone up to three times before needing more power.

27. Smartphone Enabled Door Locks

New tenants necessitate the installation of new locking systems. And, especially if you own residential property, you'll have to change locks more frequently.

Smartphone and Wi-Fi enabled locking systems, on the other hand, have transformed the way we handle turnovers. You no longer need to call a locksmith or purchase a new locking system from Home Depot.

You can generate up to 250 unique keycodes for your tenants, maintenance crew, or whoever needs access to the units with this Halo lockset, and you can add or delete users from your smartphone application.

To put it simply?

Changing locks now takes seconds - and you can do it remotely!

28. Ring Camera System

Most tenants consider security to be an important amenity when renting a commercial or residential property.

Not to mention that it will assist you in keeping track of the health of your investments. (Unless, of course, you give residential tenants control for their benefit.)

Ring cameras are a firm favorite among The Cauble Group's investment properties. They allow me to monitor our office and retail buildings after hours, and the remotely stored video footage has occasionally come in handy.

I highly recommend the floodlight version, which will also alert any intruders to the presence of a security system on the property and has a siren with a two-way microphone.

This system is Wi-Fi enabled, simple to install, and connects directly to your smartphone, making it suitable for any investor.

29. Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet

When you work in real estate, you will attend a number of meetings where you will need to take notes, demonstrate property boundaries, and pull up comps.

So, why bring a computer and a notepad when a tablet will suffice?

This tablet is not only as light as a notepad, but it is also faster than many computers I've used and allows users to type, draw, and write on the same platform.

Another selling point for me is that this device has a USB-C port, which allows you to use a variety of cables and give presentations (such as listing presentations!).

30. Laser Measure

The laser measure is one of the simplest tools on this list, but it is one of my most frequently used on a site-by-site basis.

My laser measure is always by my side when I'm walking a new listing, inspecting a property under contract, or trying to verify floor plans.

This Tacklife measuring tape is small and compact, so it fits perfectly in the door of my car.

When I walk into a property, I simply clip it to my belt loop and grab it whenever I need to take a measurement, whether from wall to wall or floor to ceiling.

With a range of 196', you'll be able to measure almost any space you'll be touring without having to divide the floor plan into smaller bites.

31. High Quality Flashlight

I can't tell you how many places we've visited that didn't have power or were missing lightbulbs and fixtures.

If the space is larger, such as an abandoned hospital (yes, I've been there!) or a larger warehouse, your smartphone's light will simply not suffice.

You'll need a high-quality flashlight, such as this Maglite Heavy-Duty, which can illuminate dark corners and ceilings.

Not to mention that it can serve as a form of self-defense in the event of an emergency.

32. Audible Subscription

Reading a book isn't always the most convenient way for me to learn because I'm constantly on the go and usually exhausted when I get home.

However, I have plenty of time in the car and on walks to listen to Audible books, which has become one of my primary means of consuming new content (outside of blogs, YouTube videos, and podcasts, of course).

Audible has a massive library of audiobooks, ranging from business classics to real estate classics.

A monthly Audible membership is an excellent gift for the real estate professional who is always looking to expand their knowledge.

33. Standing Desk

Stand-up desks are an excellent alternative to sitting in the office all day.

The ApexDesk Flex has several different top variations, each with a couple of grommet holes for cables and chargers.

These desks plug into an outlet and can be adjusted in height using an electronic keypad located just beneath the table top.

Working on contracts or researching projects at your computer all day puts strain on your back that you could easily avoid by standing (or alternating between standing and sitting).

Don't forget to use it in conjunction with an anti-fatigue foam standing mat to help your back and joints.

34. Podcast Mic

Podcasting is all the rage nowadays.

Interviews are not only a great way to meet other investors, agents, developers, and so on, but they can also be a fantastic marketing tool for the real estate professional willing to commit to producing a podcast.

All you really need to start your podcast now, thanks to modern software, is a high-quality microphone - the software and syndication outlets are free!

The Blue Yeti is one of the most popular microphones for beginners due to its low price and high quality.

It's also fairly easy to use; simply plug the USB directly into your computer and you're ready to go.

35. Display Jar For Development Soil

If you want to give a more sentimental gift, this display jar is unquestionably the best you'll find.

Fill this display jar with soil from the development site to capture the memory of breaking ground and developing a project.

The wide mouth and cork stopper make this jar a lovely decoration for your loved one's office or home shelf.

These jars are well-made and sturdy, with an airtight seal.

36. Power Toolkit

When you work in real estate, you're probably getting your hands dirty and working on projects on a daily basis.

Don't waste time with outdated tools; this DeWalt power tool combo kit includes everything a real estate professional requires:

  • A drill
  • A circular saw is used.
  • A saw that reciprocates
  • A flashlight

The combo kit provides unrivaled convenience because each tool uses the same battery - charge it once and you're ready to go no matter what you're working on.

This kit is also an excellent starting point for a real estate professional who is just beginning to build their toolkit.

37. Voltmeter

When inspecting a property, you want to make sure you don't overlook any problems.

After all, it could mean the difference between a profitable and a failed investment. Not to mention how quickly you can decide whether or not to purchase the property.

This voltmeter set allows you to quickly inspect the electrical systems in buildings, from circuit breakers to wall outlets.

38. Gift Stock in The Investors Favorite Company

Stockpile allows you to buy stock in the form of gift cards for the young investor in your life. Users can redeem their points for fractional shares of well-known companies such as Apple and Starbucks. Stockpile is the ideal financial gift for new investors or those who conduct extensive company research.

If you want to buy an investment gift for a child, Stockpile also allows you to do so. All that is needed is for a parent or adult to open a custodial account.

39. Acorns For Investors With Fear of Risk

Acorns is another platform that allows you to buy stock with gift cards. Acorns is a micro-investing app that allows you to invest spare change. It is relatively new to the finance app scene. This platform is simple and convenient, making it easier for first-time investors to begin saving for the future.

To give Acorns stock as a gift, you must first purchase one of their gift cards. The recipient will only need to sign up for a free account to redeem and begin investing (if they do not already have one). The procedure is straightforward and mobile-friendly.

40. Financial Planning Session

This one-of-a-kind gift is ideal for recent high school or college graduates. This is an investment gift with lifetime value for meeting long-term financial goals.

Inexperienced investors can benefit from the guidance of a financial advisor in order to make sound financial decisions in the present. As a result, there will be no need to clean up after massive financial mistakes in the future. To begin, look for a financial advisor in your area and begin making phone calls to determine your options.

41. “Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup,” by John Carreyrou

As the year comes to a close, this book is near the top of Amazon's best-seller list. This is a great option for the investor who enjoys a good page-turner.

The story, which documents the rise and fall of a biotech startup in Silicon Valley, reveals juicy details about a $9 billion startup. The startup was eventually exposed as being built on lies and deception.

42. “The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham

This is a timeless title that would make an excellent present for any investor on your list. Many people admire this book for its "timelessness" as an investment guide.

If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for an investor who relies on tradition and historical perspectives for success, this book is ideal. Amazon also refers to it as the "stock market bible."

43. Liquid Money: the fragrance that can make you smell like a millionaire.

The scent of the Liquid Money fragrance, according to its official website, is that of freshly printed money. As if that weren't enough, each fragrance is accompanied by genuine, shredded US dollar bills!

This is also an excellent present for the investor who has a secret Shark Tank obsession. The fragrance debuted on the show and was well-received. This is unquestionably the best money-lovers gift.

44. Hotel ownership in America’s first seaside resort, Cape May.

The Cape May experience includes a high tourist activity area and over 30 miles of beautiful, sandy beaches, as well as a luxury boutique hotel in a prime location.

During their stays at The Ewing, investors will receive discounts and VIP treatment. It's also a limited-time offer that was previously only available to wealthy, accredited investors. Luxury VIP perks and hotel ownership? Not bad for a financial gift. More information can be found by clicking here.

45. Vintage Banker Sign Personalized

The handmade wood sign features a cast resin dollar sign and includes the name of your favorite banker, their position or title, and the location where they work.

You can also add any other text they want, such as a retirement year, if they prefer. This board is 24′′ wide and 16′′ high, making it a striking addition to any home or office.

46. Personalised Tumbler

Those who live and breathe their business may forget to drink their water (or other beverage of choice) on occasion!

This personalized "Best Banker Ever" tumbler will be a great fit for their day, whether they work at a bank, a marketing firm, a real estate firm, or anywhere else that deals with money (be sure to customize it).

47. Kokedama "Money" Tree

A "money" tree is a symbol of wealth in Chinese legend, and it is said to bring good fortune to the owner. So, why not show your loved one that you wish them success with this one-of-a-kind gift idea?

Your new Kokedama (also known as "money") tree arrives in a moss planting. The bonsai is braided for added aesthetics and traditional good luck vibes. The entire plant will be between 15 and 17 inches tall.

48. Individualized Portfolio

Do you need a present for an investor? If you know an investor (or anyone in the financial industry), you know that these are the people who understand the value of a portfolio.

Get it???? Portfolio???

Oh, forget about it.

Okay, so they aren't exactly physical portfolios, but you get the idea! They can keep important documents, project notes, business cards, and anything else they need to keep safe in this "padfolio" (which can be personalized with your loved one's name, initials, place of work, logo, or anything else you'd like it to say).

This portfolio would also make an excellent present for real estate agents, CPAs, college students, or recent graduates.

49. Massage Envy Gift Certificate

Those who work in the stock market or other high-stress environments can benefit from a good massage once in a while.

This means that your loved one will adore this gift of relaxation: a Massage Envy gift card.

They have something for everyone, from massage therapy to skin care to total body stretches.

50. Keepsake Box Made of Walnut Wood

Another excellent gift idea for someone who has recently graduated, been promoted, or is retiring.

Northwest Gifts' personalized walnut wood keepsake box is the ideal place for them to keep anything important to them close at hand. It can be used to store photos, business cards, important documents, or even thank-you notes.

The hinged glass lid can be laser-engraved with any design, including logos and text.

This lovely keepsake box measures 9.5′′ x 7.5′′ and has a soft felt interior.

51. Donation in Their Honor

Consider donating to a charity in their name or in the name of their business for someone on your gift list who is a minimalist or simply doesn't need or want anything.

This is a great way to show someone you care about them without overwhelming them with more stuff.

We've included a link to Charity Watch, an independent charity watchdog that keeps a close eye on organizations and assigns them a rating. Simply search for the charity to which you want to donate, and this website will provide you with the necessary information.

52. Sculpture of a Bull and a Bear

For hundreds of years, the tussling bull and bear has been a symbol of economic [un]certainty. These two animals have fought their way into the chaos of the modern financial sector as a traditional representation of Wall Street (the bull market versus the bear market).

They now represent the ups and downs of the ever-changing market, particularly for those who trade stocks.

So, if you know someone in the stock market and want to get them a nice gift that they can proudly display in their home or office, look no further than this stunning art piece.

The resin sculpture, electroplated with bronze, captures the essence of the finance person's work, which is sure to resonate with them. It measures 10′′ wide by 9.5′′ tall and weighs a hefty 6 pounds.

53. Book: "A Random Walk Down Wall Street"

A Random Walk Down Wall Street has been devoured by academics, experienced stock brokers, and novice investors alike for decades. It's now considered one of the hallmarks of economic study and has been recommended repeatedly by countless money experts. Needless to say, if you know someone who is into this sort of thing, this is the perfect gift idea for them!

54. Personalized Letter Bank

If you know someone who insists on "showing me the money," chances are they've been that way since they were a child. They most likely had a piggy bank and were one of those kids who kept track of how much money they saved over time. Bring back their childhood memories with this "grown-up" version of the classic piggy bank.

The handmade bank will be shaped in the initials of your loved one's name, and it will also have their name (or whatever else you want it to read) engraved along the edge of the plexiglass. It is 7 inches tall.
