July 03, 2022 13 min read

Are you looking for Christmas gifts for cancer women? Don't look any further! Aside from being asked about the symptoms they experienced prior to being diagnosed with colon cancer, the second-most frequently requested question is, "What are some excellent Christmas gift ideas for cancer women?"

I enjoy receiving this inquiry because it indicates that there are concerned friends and family members who wish to help a loved one who is battling cancer. A cancer woman requires a lot of help. Seriously, just asking about choosing a meaningful gift can make them feel cherished.

So, what constitutes a good, meaningful Christmas gift? There are several! The following are some Christmas gift ideas for cancer women that you might offer as separate gifts or combine as a care box. Whatever you choose, I'm sure it will be fantastic.

1. Hard-to-kill house plant

My grandmother bought me a plant when I had colon surgery over ten years ago, and it is still alive now. Plants have a way of lifting our moods and adding freshness and greenery to our surroundings. For tough-to-kill plants, try a pothos or a peace lily.

2. Framed saying or wall art with encouraging words, verses or quotes

I appreciate meaningful art, especially when it is imbued with emotion. Posters with messages like "Be Brave" or "Take Courage" are not only motivational, but they can also assist cancer sufferers stay strong.

3. Coffee mug and bags of coffee grounds/beans or tea

Every year or so, I have to purge my coffee cup collection since they make excellent gifts for cancer women, but they're also incredibly meaningful methods for my friends to offer support. I'll curl up in a cozy spot with a blanket and a hot cup of tea to brighten my dark days. In place of a reusable mug, I've received plastic or paper cups with encouraging words and verses scrawled on the side on occasion. A hot cup of coffee or tea is an inexpensive way to show someone you care.

4. Safe cleaning products (Like Seventh Generation or Young Living)

Women who have been diagnosed with cancer are often terrified and take stock of their life. The products we put on our bodies and use to clean our houses are frequently scrutinized. Demonstrate to your acquaintance that you are aware that they may be thinking about the chemicals in their home and looking for ways to lessen them by purchasing a few goods that contain fewer toxins.

5. Collectables that made you think of them (bonus points if they already collect the series)

Angel tree ornaments Football trading cards Figures from Pop Culture. Animals that are stuffed. There are many interesting collectibles available, and sending one to a friend may be the ideal approach to cheer them up (especially if they collect them).

6. Cancer-Fighting Recipes

There are numerous fantastic cookbooks for cancer women, as well as websites like Cook For Your Life that are dedicated to assisting families dealing with cancer in finding healthy foods. A wonderful gift for cancer women is not only to feed them, but also to teach them how to feed themselves!

7. Bird feeder and seed

Cancer is not only physical, but it is also mental. Filling a bird feeder with seed so your friend can enjoy bird watching out the window is one way to bring calm and tranquility into an anxious day.

8. Gift cards to an online streaming service

Cancer is difficult to deal with, but it can also be tedious. Thank god for social media and streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, Amazon Prime, and others (and I'm sure there will be more!). These businesses provide gift cards; send one to help them maintain their favorite subscriptions!

9. Candles

Did you know that one of the most strong senses is smell? Candles are one of my favorite things to get as a gift. The warmth and crackle of a burning wick, along with the soothing aroma of a softly scented candle, soothes my spirit.

10. Essential oils and a diffuser

Essential oils, like candles, can help to de-stress and brighten emotions. Some people claim that oils provide bodily benefits as well. Give a diffuser and some nice-smelling oils to a cancer woman to help them relax.

11. Smart home technology

Cancer causes physical exhaustion. Help your high-tech buddies set up smart home equipment so they don't have to get up as much. Alexa smart plugs, TV remotes, and Ring doorbells can all be linked to smartphone apps. This is especially beneficial for people recovering from surgery or those who live alone. Give them one less reason to get out of bed!

12. Gift cards for food delivery apps

Apps like DoorDash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats are realizing dreams we had no idea we possessed. Because of COVID-19, practically all restaurants (both independently owned and franchised) now offer one of these services. All of these food delivery apps have gift cards that you can send to a friend through email or text. You can either send a gift card or food as a gift. It's a fantastic thing.

13. Gift cards to grocery stores

Is there a culinary motif here? Food is an excellent method to aid someone who is ill, and it is a present that benefits everyone in the household. Get a gift card to a local food store or a grocery delivery service like Instacart to stretch your dollars a little further.

14. Drop off a home-cooked meal

While gift cards are convenient since they allow a cancer woman to choose what and when to order, home-cooked meals are also excellent gifts. These meals are frequently incredibly tasty, and they are created with love. This is a gift that should not be missed because it is generally accompanied by a grin, embrace, and more love.

15. House cleaning

A clean house is a happy house, and it is especially important for cancer women. Help your acquaintance get rid of germs and filth at their home, especially if they are undergoing treatment. You can clean the house yourself or send in a cleaning crew. Simply be conscious of the items being utilized and any chemical and toxin specifications your loved one may have.

16. House chores

Cut the grass. Bring the recyclables to the recycling facility. Get your dry cleaning. Bring the garbage to the curb. You may be a big blessing to a cancer sufferer by assisting with even minor housework. Don't underestimate the worth of your time and acts of service, especially if money is short or you're not a great cook.

17. A briefcase

If a cancer woman is receiving treatment, they are most likely bringing periodicals, books, a tablet, and other items to the chemo room. Get them a "chemo tote" to put all of their ingredients in one place that they can easily grab as they go out the door. Totes make excellent gifts for cancer women, both men and women.

18. Puzzle books

Consider buying your pal crossword, word search, and sudoku books as an alternative to screen time—especially if they're a word nerd!

19. Books

Reading is an excellent method to pass the time while undergoing treatment or recovering. But, before you buy books for someone to read, make sure you know whether they prefer fiction or nonfiction. You could also get them a copy of my memoir, Blush (shameless advertising!). Right now, Radical Remission is a popular book among cancer survivors.

20. Weighted blanket

Something about snuggling up with a little more weight can help ease anxiety, which can be a wonderful comfort to a woman both at home and in the hospital.

21. Magazines

Along the lines of thinking about methods to offer them a "screen time break," stock up on periodicals that are relevant to their interests and hobbies! Purchase periodicals that they would never purchase for themselves. Cancer women should read Cure Magazine!

22. The tablet

If you're feeling especially generous (and wealthy! ), purchase a cancer sufferer a tablet if they don't already have one. A device like this allows people to check email, socialize, read eBooks, communicate pictures/videos, and play games. Tablets are essential for cancer treatment these days, and they make excellent gifts for cancer sufferers!

23. Snacks and candy

First, make sure your pal hasn't gone sugar-free (some cancer women do.) However, if they still want sweet snacks on occasion, provide them with some hard candies to take with them. This is useful during surgery recovery and treatment.

24. Cancer-specific gear

Purchase equipment from a non-profit dedicated to their cancer type. These organizations frequently sell stuff that is ideal for cancer sufferers, such as T-shirts, hats, mugs, and other items. This swag typically carries messages about colon cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, and other cancers.

25. Inspirational T-shirts

There are numerous cancer survivor T-shirts available online, many of which state SURVIVOR, COURAGEOUS, BRAVE, or some other supportive word.

26. Jewelry

A cancer woman can treasure a necklace or bracelet with an inspirational or meaningful charm. It can be a memory and remember of what they went through (and the fortitude they gained) for a long time, not just in the moment.

27. Lounge wear

Find PJ pants or shorts that are incredibly soft, comfortable, and loose-fitting. These are useful both in the hospital and at home. If they are having abdominal surgery, they should wear loose-fitting pants.

28. Soft, fuzzy socks

Soft, colorful socks are a low-cost, considerate way to show someone you care and improve their day. These are items we rarely purchase for ourselves, but they make excellent gifts.

29. A nice, soft robe

Can you tell that soft apparel is a popular subject for cancer woman gifts? When you're in the hospital or at home healing, robes come in useful.

30. Pedicure and manicure

Pretty fingers and toes may make a bad day better. You could do the manicure yourself, take them to a salon, or get a gift card for some pampering when they're ready. If you go that route, be sure to check with their doctor to see if their doctor would allow them to visit a public salon.

31. Safe beauty products

Cancer sufferers may begin to analyze every product they use after a diagnosis, similar to how cleaning goods are scrutinized. If they're concerned about beauty goods, you could purchase them from Beauty Counter makeup (I recommend shopping with my sister-in-law!) You could also check for locally produced soaps or other chemical-free, trustworthy beauty brands.

faith gifts for cancer sufferers

32. New Bible

A Bible may be a very personal present for someone suffering from cancer, especially if you include a handwritten inscription inside the cover. Another thought is to emphasize Bible scriptures regarding hope and healing.

33. Worship songs

Although it is more difficult to provide music these days, you can always offer your friend a gift card to a streaming music service such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, or Pandora (bonus points if you suggest a few great albums or make a playlist of songs). Sending SMS with links to YouTube videos with inspirational and encouraging songs is another simple and free approach to motivate someone using music.

34. Devotionals

Sometimes women require brief, quick reads that will inspire and strengthen their faith. These days, there's a devotion for everyone: men, women, cancer sufferers, carers, puppy lovers, chocolate lovers, and more. The Waiting Room is a nice devotional to contemplate, and if it's Christmastime, check out my devotional, Unexpected.

35. Believe Big mug

Believe Big is an amazing organization that not only helps cancer women understand integrative medicines like mistletoe, but they're also one of the few non-profits I've seen that focuses on faith for cancer women. Check out their mugs, as well as the rest of their merchandise! Everything makes excellent gifts for cancer women.

36. Prayer shawl

This can be a very significant present for a prayer warrior. Read about my buddy Jamie, who received a crocheted prayer shawl after being diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.

37. Blank journal and nice pens

Of course, as a writer, I'll advise you to give a cancer woman some writing supplies! However, this is a fantastic gift because your friend will have everything they need to scribble down some ideas when inspiration strikes.

38. Gratitude journal

Gratitude notebooks are beneficial to our mental health, and I believe they are especially beneficial for cancer sufferers. These publications can assist women in finding the good in the midst of so much bad. If you're looking for a free gratitude diary or a place to start, I helped write one for Fight CRC.

39. Verses

If you're low on cash or searching for a method to demonstrate spiritual support, this is an excellent present. Make a copy for yourself and your friend of a list of verses that you promise to pray about.

40. Prayer newsletters

Send your friend's name to prayer newsletters and then request copies. Drop a copy in the mail with a letter to show them that people are praying for them. This tiny gesture of forethought can mean so much.

41. Personalized items

A cancer woman will frequently unite behind anything that embodies their experience—a word, phrase, symbol, hashtag, or verse. Check their social media posts and hashtags (if they're on these platforms) to find out. It would mean the world if you could find out what keeps them going and write it on a card or have something produced with it.

42. Send them a Medal of Hope

Teri, a friend of mine, founded Powered by Hope and came up with this fantastic idea! Get a medal for your strong champion to acknowledge and honor their cancer fight. This is an excellent cancer gift!

43. Send a Friend stuffed animal care package

After a hospital stay, my buddy Shaye sent me a gorgeous teddy puppy from Send a Friend, and it was the cutest! With this gift, I felt very loved, from the colorful blue box that said I had a new buddy to the cozy stuffed animal inside! It's appropriate for people of all ages.

44. Photo nostalgia

Photos might trigger memories that bring about healing emotions. Create a Chatbook with images of you and them (old or new) and write about your memories in the margins. You could also mention reasons why you adore them and why you're fighting for them. Photos make excellent gifts for cancer sufferers.

45. Line up a photo shoot

Arrange for a photographer to take photos of the woman on their own. Alternatively, plan a picture shoot with family or friends. Spend some time thinking about (or asking) a cancer woman what the most meaningful moment(s) would be for them to capture and help make it happen.

46. Support survivor artists!

Look for paintings, novels, photography, artwork, and other items created by people who have survived your friend's cancer type. This is not only a meaningful present for a cancer woman, but it also shows support for the artists and lifts your friend's spirits when they see art created by people who offer them hope that they, too, may live.

47. Do a walk/run in their honor

Many cancer non-profits hold physical activities to raise funds. These can include walks, runs, swims, climbs, and other activities. All of these events provide opportunities for communities to gather around and honor a survivor. Believe me when I say that it means the world to a cancer woman when friends and family rally around them in this way. Lace up and join them for the event, or donate to their team in their honor if you can't.

48. Woman resources

Many non-profits provide woman education tools such as guidebooks, booklets, and blog entries. Order some of these printed products (or print out the internet resources) and send them to your pal to demonstrate that you care and have done your homework. Cancer Support Community is a fantastic place to start.

49. Make a donation in their honor

Even if there isn't a walk or run, making a donation in someone's honor is a thoughtful gesture. It demonstrates that you're investing in the future in light of the survivor's present, especially if the organization does what the survivor is enthusiastic about (awareness, advocacy, and research are frequent activities). Before you donate, ask if there is a non-profit they have received a lot of support from, or if there is a specific location they would like your contributions to go.

50. Snail mail

Frequent messages and cards in the mail are often appreciated; don't overlook this old-school method of giving presents to a cancer sufferer!

51. Cozy Books

When you have cancer, you spend a lot of time waiting for doctor's visits. Dr. Kotiah suggests giving them a nutrition book to help them pass the time. Perhaps an adult coloring book, which many women find relaxing.

If your friend has children, I propose a heartfelt picture book to help them understand and manage.

52. Shell Gift Card

Cancer, on top of everything else, is costly.

The majority of money will most likely be spent on medical care, and someone with cancer will quickly find themselves in significant medical debt.

Cancer women frequently face significant financial difficulties. Gift certificates for gas or groceries might be really beneficial.

53. Performing Chores

You may not believe it, but the finest present does not always entail money.

Having family support is crucial. The connection between mental and physical wellness is critical. Women who receive social support fare better in treatment. Cooking meals, assisting with housework or errands, or simply lending a listening ear can make all the difference.

54. A Ear Listening

Finally, the finest thing you can do is give someone something that shows them you care about them and support them.

Simply call, FaceTime, or text to check in. Create sealed letters or cards that people can open on their most difficult days.

And simply be present to listen.

The best thing anyone can do when it comes to gift-giving is to listen to the individual going through the experience. A gift will not help or improve anyone's situation. However, there is a chance that the present will help someone feel less alone.

55. Meal Train

Organize for local friends and family to prepare meals for your loved one who is undergoing treatment. Furthermore, the website is simple to use and can be customized to accommodate dietary constraints.

56. Restaurant Gift Cards

For individuals who are unable to serve lunch in person, sending a gift card to a local restaurant or grocery store might be extremely beneficial. As a result, the primary caregiver is relieved of the burden of cooking while also benefiting financially.

57. Blue Apron

A meal delivery service collaborated with local farmers to supply high-quality, fresh ingredients. The weekly package also includes pre-portioned ingredients and recipe instructions that are simple to follow.

58. Savor Health

It seeks to make eating a nutritious meal simple again. They offer nutritious, flavorful meals that are prepared fresh and tailored to personal needs and tastes.

59. Grocery Shopping

It is an excellent approach to relieve tension while also providing a nice present. Offer to do your friend or loved one's shopping. You can also offer them a gift certificate to their favorite grocery store.

60. Inspirational Heels

Healing Heels - A collection of strong, edgy heels designed exclusively for kicker cancer's ass. If you purchase one pair, a second pair will be given to a cancer survivor. These are the ideal present for your fashionable cancer woman friend.
