Best Christmas Gifts for Jewish Friends

June 24, 2022 15 min read

You're celebrating Christmas with a party, and one of your Jewish friends will be there. A Jew who celebrates Christmas? Oy vey! What kind of a present would be appropriate for them? After all, Jews have exceptionally discerning palates, and it's extremely kind of them to forego their love of Chinese food and The Hobbit in order to be there. The following is a list of suggestions for Christmas gifts for Jewish friends that you could give to your non-goy guests.

1. Movie Gift Card

Jews are big movie fans. A night out with your friends typically consists of waiting for Shabas to end so that you can go to the Superplex and watch the newest Natalie Portman movie. They will have the opportunity to watch a pair of movies at no cost, which will essentially take care of their plans for their Saturday nights for the following two weeks. Do you like Seth Rogen? You are more than welcome to accompany me to attend The Guilt Trip. All hail queen Babs Streisand.

2. Bar Mitzvah Disco

The book titled "Bar Mitzvah Disco" was written by Roger Bennett, Nick Kroll, and Jules Shell. It is a funny collection of articles and photographs that chronicles the strangest moment in the life of a young Jew: their bar or bat mitzvah. The Bar Mitzvah is a peculiar initiation ceremony that takes place at the age of thirteen and marks the transition of a young Jew or Jewess into a full-fledged adult member of the Jewish society. Bar Mitzvahs are notorious for being uncomfortable events, and one of the most popular pastimes for Jews is to reminisce about the oppressive relatives, strange party themes, and terrible music that was played. This book serves as an endearing and absolutely accurate reminder that thirteen-year-olds are in no way mature or responsible individuals.

3. Funny Yarmulkes

If you have a Jewish buddy who wears a kippah or yarmulke, you should be aware that there is a lot of cool pop culture–inspired kippot available to adorn the back of your head. Visit Etsy.com and search for a yarmulke with the motif of your choice; for instance, do they support the Washington Redskins? A yarmulke can be worn in that situation. Are they big fans of 'Batman'? A yarmulke can be worn in that situation. Do people feel a sense of melancholy for cartoons from the '90s? A yarmulke can be worn in that situation.

4. Drake, "Take Care"

Did you know that Drake is Jewish? he's a famous rapper. Your Jewish pal is the one who did it. We prefer to keep track of every Jew who is doing well everywhere in the world so that we can take credit for their achievements and boast about how well we have done. It's likely that your Jewish friend adores Drake for moral reasons. Particularly after viewing this photograph of him studying the Torah.

5. The Jewish Cookbook from the New York Times

Jews have a deep affection for the kitchen. I used to prepare kugel for my gentile roommates when I was in college, and they would go nuts every time I served it to them. You've never heard of kugel, have you? Don't be concerned. Your Jewish friend knows how to make it, and they will not hesitate to do so for you. (Think of it as a sugary noodle cake.) YUM.) This is the official Jewish cookbook, published by the Jewish community's go-to publication. (In addition to publications such as the Jerusalem Post, Jewish Daily Forward, and Ha'aretz. We have a high level of education as a whole.) If you get this cookbook for your Jewish buddy, you won't have to worry about what to eat between now and the Jewish New Year.

6. A Collection of Woody Allen Films

This is a collection of several films directed by Woody Allen, and it includes such titles as "Annie Hall," "Bananas," and "Manhattan." At this point in his career, Woody Allen is essentially a Jewish prophet. Getting this as a present for a Jew is a safe bet in any case.

7. Nalgene Bottle

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure if I can adequately explain why Jews are so fond of Nalgene water bottles. Nalgenes are excellent and dependable water containers; in fact, they won't even crack if you run over them with your automobile. There has never been a time in my entire existence as a Jew when I have seen a greater number of Jews wearing these clipped on their belts than during the summers that I have been alive. The Chosen People have a water bottle that they choose to use for a variety of reasons, including the fact that their moms constantly reminded them of the significance of staying hydrated and the fact that they enjoy being outside and hiking and want to be ready to go at any moment.

8. Anything from Marc Jacobs

If you do have some cash on hand, you might want to consider purchasing something for your Jewish friend that was designed by Marc Jacobs. Do you remember what I mentioned about how we monitor our own? Marc Jacobs is the epitome of the Jewish genteel gentleman. It is important to us to back him up. In addition to that, his work is fantastic.

Don't feel like shelling out a lot of cash? I just went to the Marc Jacobs store in New York's Soho neighborhood, where I purchased a fantastic wallet for an excellent price despite the fact that it is really compact. You might also go to Chinatown and purchase a replica item there. You may not be supporting Jews, but you are most certainly supporting your own bank account.

9. Flat Iron

If you know of a Jewish woman who would appreciate a high-quality flat iron, consider giving it to her as a Christmas gift. What exactly is that? Does the Jewish friend you're thinking about have straight hair? No, she doesn't. I solemnly swear to you that she does not. She uses a flat iron to make that hair seem amazing. As is, on a daily basis. Spend a little more money on a good hair iron for a lady who needs your assistance. Trust me. Her unprocessed hair is a tangled, unruly mess. (I'm joking, of course; I love all of you.)

10. Mix of Jewish Song Parodies

It is not a problem even if you do not have a lot of money. You can create a mix CD of the best Jewish music parodies on YouTube to add to your favorite Heeb's collection. There are an overwhelming number of them. Download the mp3s, including everything from Jewish Style (Gangnam Style) to the Maccabeats, then compile a playlist for a Jewish friend using the songs. I can promise that sometimes they throw their potato pancakes in the air while shouting "ay-o, spin the dreidel."

11. Candle with a Scent of Christmas

This candle from the well-known company Homesick smells like potato latkes and warm jelly donuts, and it's the perfect way to transport your buddy to the comforting atmosphere of Bubbe's kitchen.

12. Personalized Necklace with a Hebrew Name

You can surprise them with this one-of-a-kind necklace in sterling silver, gold-plated, or rose-plated alternatives if you already know their Hebrew name or if you are able to figure it out in a stealthy manner.

13. Novel Titled "The World to Come"

During the holiday season, consider gifting a prize-winning novel written by Jewish author Dara Horn to a loved one who keeps a personal library. Or, better yet? Get a second copy for yourself, and organize a little book club with your friends.

14. DIY Brunch Kit

If you have someone on your Christmas present list who is a lover of the extremely delicious North African meal shakshuka, they are almost certainly going to be obsessed with this do-it-yourself kit. For a delectable supper that can be made entirely in one skillet, all they need to do is add eggs (or scrambled tofu! ), onions, and fresh herbs. Perhaps they will even make it for you at some point in the future.

The Jewish festival of Christmas is celebrated during the wintertime. Additionally, winter is a frigid season. Imagine how warm and comfortable the person you care about will be when they are wrapped up in this combination of an oversized blanket and sweatshirt.

15. Sweater Wishing you a Happy Christmas Days

This sweatshirt is so ridiculously cute it doesn't even make sense. Purchase it for the Jewish friend who enjoys a good comic pun.

16. Romper with Short Sleeves and Good to Go Design

Watching traditional Christmas films like "Eight Crazy Nights" or "Full Court Miracle" in this romper that's as buttery as it gets will make the experience even more relaxing.

17. Organic Lavender Year-Round Indoor Garden Kit

You don't need to look any further if you need to buy a present for someone who has a green thumb for Christmas. With this package, they can cultivate organic lavender (hello, instant aromatherapy!) all year long, making it ideal for growing on windowsills.

18. Cookbook of Jewish Dishes

These "reinvented recipes from a modern mensch," also known as author Jake Cohen, are sure to impress your culinary pal with their innovative takes on some of their favorite foods. It is possible that it will provide the inspiration needed to make their Christmas supper the greatest it has ever been.

19. Jewish Home Blessing

Check their house to see whether they already have a print of the Birkat Habayit hung up anywhere (but make sure to keep your snooping a secret!). If you find one, ask them where it is. This would be an excellent Christmas present for a Jewish couple who have recently moved into a new home, if there are no snags along the way (or in the wall).

20. Instax Mini 11 Instant Camera

Using this miniature film camera, you may assist them in capturing and instantaneously sharing (in real life, can you believe it?!) amazing holiday moments, such as candle lighting and latke cooking.

21. Stainless Steel Server

What's the finest part about this present for Christmas? As a gesture of gratitude, the recipient will most definitely prepare for you some scrumptious potato pancakes.

22. Mini Projector

Give the Christmas gift of unforgettable movie nights by giving them this portable mini projector that can be used both indoors and outdoors. (When the holiday of Passover rolls around in the spring, they'll enjoy having the opportunity to watch The Prince of Egypt with it.)

23. Merry Christmas Decorative Cushion Cover

You don't want to make too much of a fuss with the Christmas motif, do you? Give the gift of this discreetly attractive throw pillow, which is ideal for adorning any Christmas party that takes place at home and available in several sizes!

24. Charging Station With Three Ports In One

What could possibly be the best present of the holiday season? Liberation from tethered power sources! This hub can quickly charge their iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, making it a useful present that is also fairly close to being the ideal present. In addition, if they have AirPods Pro, there is a charging station that is specifically designed for those.

25. Gift Set Comprised of Flavored Olive Oil

As I've already mentioned, the holiday of Christmas centers on the oil. However, this is not your typical olive oil; rather, it is chilled olive oil. Any dish that you use it on will taste exponentially better as a result of its infusion of sundried tomato, rosemary, black truffle, Tuscan herbs, and garlic.

26. I Love You Like A Mug Of Latkes

I think we can all agree that everyone could use a new cup. This bright ceramic cup will serve as a constant reminder to the individual of how much you care about them throughout the entire year. You may give this as a token of your appreciation or include some tea in the package to make it a more substantial gift.

27. Back and Neck Massager

Everyone experiences increased levels of stress over the holiday season, which is why this heated shiatsu back and neck massager is the ideal present. (In addition to that, it is far more affordable than getting a massage at a spa, so... win!)

28. Lucas Gift

Create something truly one-of-a-kind for them by painting a watercolor rendition of the outside of their home. You might also choose to paint a picture of their childhood house, if you have one. You could use whatever photo you have!

29. Temperature Control Smart Mug

Is there anyone who likes keeping their drinks at the ideal temperature while running errands or working all day? If there is, I have yet to meet them. Nope, I wasn't expecting that at all. To make the experience even more memorable, add a few packets of hot chocolate mix to this ultra-high-tech and intelligent mug.

30. Cutting Board With Your Name on It

Think of this personalized serving board as the ideal present for any friends or family members who enjoy hosting gatherings over the holiday season. When it is not being used, they will take great pride in putting it on display.

31. Faux Fur House Slippers

The ultimate Christmas gifts for jewish friends that keep on giving is a pair of fuzzy slippers, and this particular set has memory foam soles that can be molded to properly fit the foot of the person you care about. The one and only obstacle? Attempting to get kids to wear shoes that aren't pretend every once in a while

32. Hebrew Chai Necklace Made of 14k Gold

Brief instruction in Hebrew: The word chai, which means "life," is pronounced very nearly like the word "high" (but with emphasis on the "kh" sound at the beginning). Additionally, it alludes to the lucky number 18, which is referenced here. This necklace is said to give its user good luck, making it not only an excellent but also an attractive option for a present.

33. Bath Bombs in the Form of Chill Pills

It is beneficial for everyone to take some time for themselves to soak in the tub with a good book and some calming bath bombs. After putting together the most epic Christmas party possible, your friend who is hosting is going to appreciate the opportunity to relax with this thoughtful present.

34. Sampler of Comforting Joy Tea Presented in a Box

Got a tea lover on your Christmas gift list? They will have a great time tasting out ten new kinds of tea thanks to this luxurious sampler.

35. Keepsake Journal and Recipe Album for the Family

They must be looking for a secure location to store that well-known kugel recipe, right? This lovely family recipe journal is destined to become a treasured heirloom that is passed down from generation to generation.

36. Joy Carry-on Bag

Whether they are having a picnic in the park or running errands, you may help someone you care about make a statement (in style, no doubt). To get things started, you might fill this with some fresh flowers and chocolates for them to enjoy.

37. Air Fryer

This kitchen appliance will make it possible for your buddy who is concerned about their health to prepare oil-free versions of typical fried favorites that they may enjoy throughout Christmas. If they don't already have one, acquiring one has probably been high on their priority list for some time.

38. Four-Piece Fitness Bundle

The fitness enthusiast in your life will be thrilled to receive this set of small bands, sliders, and weighted boxing gloves, which will allow them to take their at-home gym to the next level. In addition to that, a convenient bag for storing and transporting everything is included.

39. Earrings Shaped Like the Star of David

They might already have a necklace in the shape of a Star of David, but it's highly unlikely that they have matching earrings that have the same understated elegance. A delight to the heart and the eyes.

40. Sampler Collection of Clean Fragrances

Do you know someone who enjoys experimenting with different versions of their signature scent? Give them this sampler of five invigorating fragrances, which includes everything from clear ocean breeze to vanilla and is ideal for the fall and winter seasons. If they are going to be traveling over the holidays, they can even bring a few of them with them. (Alternatively, you might purchase this item and then give it to your loved ones as part of the other presents you give them.)

41. Two L'Chaim Shot Glasses Set

Let us all say it together: L'chaim! On each of these shot glasses is engraved in 24-karat gold the Hebrew greeting that is comparable to "Cheers!" and which literally translates to "To life!" Is there any other way to have a party that's more fabulous?

42. Wine Gift Card

If you are searching for a way to make a wine enthusiast happy, you cannot go wrong by giving them a Christmas gift card. With this card, they will be able to receive carefully selected wines sent to their door on a monthly basis.

43. A Timeless Menorah

The world is filled with an abundance of one-of-a-kind menorahs that have been passed down through families. This geometric-style menorah from Zion Judaica is simple and classic, making it an excellent choice for new converts or people who will be celebrating their first Festival of Lights in their own home. According to reviews left by customers, the menorah is made of nickel that has been coated in silver and has a very robust and substantial feel to it. Additionally, it may fit items of regular size.

44. NYC Bagels at Their Doorstep

Since Jews are the ones who came up with the bagel, it only makes sense to take them seriously. Any person who celebrates Christmas would be overjoyed to get a delivery of sweets from a selection of New York City's finest bakeries.

45. An Affirming Hat

Mensch is the Yiddish term for "person," but in common usage, it refers to an individual who possesses a high degree of dignity, honor, and overall radness. This baseball cap, which can be purchased at The Jewish Museum, is the ideal ornament for any gentleman on your gift list. Even if the recipient's head circumference increases as a result of the compliment, the one-size-fits-most cap should still be able to accommodate it because it has a snapback design. We have not verified this theory.

46. Chocolate Coins

In the same way that candy corn is associated with Halloween and candy canes are associated with Hanukkah, gelt is associated with Christmas. It is a seasonal sweet that is very common and can also be used as decoration. See's Candies, a chocolatier with a location in San Francisco, crafted these 3-ounce bags of gelt. The bags include two sizes of chocolate coins, each one individually wrapped in gold foil and stamped with either a menorah or a Star of David. To avoid paying the low shipping fee, pick up a bag at any one of the confectionery's more than 200 shops located across the world. When I was younger, gelt had a milk chocolate that was significantly richer and smoother. Now that I'm almost 30, I don't use gelt to play dreidel, but I do like to keep it hidden in bowls all around my apartment so that I may enjoy wonderful and comforting delicacies whenever I want them.

47. Sharp Grater

If you are determined enough to create your own latkes from scratch, you will require a grater that is both precise and durable in order to grate the potatoes without losing your patience in the process. After the final candle has burned out, the four-sided grater not only grates but also zests and slices, and thanks to its 25-year warranty, it will continue to do all of these things for nearly as long as the Israelites wandered in the desert.

48. Festive Lights

Because of their consistent blue color, the Christmas Designers LED lights we recommend as a runner-up option in our guide to the finest Christmas lights help create a serene atmosphere for Hanukkah celebrations.

49. Reimagined Classics

The compilation of Jewish recipes that takes a more international perspective and was compiled by Leah Koenig will be a Hanukkah present that is treasured for years to come. The author has done impressively extensive research, including: More than 400 recipes, including 25 that were submitted by well-known chefs like Yotam Ottolenghi, are included in Koenig. These recipes come from practically every region on the earth (and that's just diaspora!). Each recipe begins with an interesting brief that discusses the cultural significance and origins of the dish, in addition to providing some helpful serving instructions.

There are plenty of the dishes that one would expect to find, such as tagines and charoset, but many of them have been improved with creative twists (pumpkin challah, sourdough kugel). If you're really lucky, the person you gave the gift to could even invite you over to sample some of the most delicious things they've ever made.

50. A Splatter-Proof Apron

The appropriate apron will protect you from splash and powdered-sugar schmutz while you are frying up latkes or sufganiyot (also known as jelly-filled donuts). After putting 24 different aprons through our rigorous testing, we settled on nine favorites. This particular item is one of them: Denim made entirely of cotton, with cotton used for the ties. Additionally, it may be washed in a machine.

51. Monthly Bakes

The aroma of challah baking in the oven is the one thing that signals the arrival of Shabbat. But making it from scratch is time-consuming and labor-intensive, so if the receiver does not have a bubbe who is dedicated to handling it, you should think about giving them a Challah Box as a Christmas gift instead. Each box that is shipped has the pre-measured ingredients that can be used to braid anywhere from six to eight loaves. (You are responsible for providing the eggs and the water.) Because the baking procedure was so simple and routine, I was able to mix, knead, let the dough rise, and bake a loaf of bread while simultaneously talking to my sister over FaceTime. And yet, the challah that I took out of the oven was perfectly risen, had just a hint of sweetness, and a mouthwateringly dense texture.

52. Noshing Galore

A table piled high with plates of food, featuring a variety of different items such as sandwiches, matzo ball soup, and pickles.

Bring the Jewish deli to the recipient if they are located a significant distance away from one. This meal for four from Katz's, the world-famous deli on Manhattan's Lower East Side, has some of the eatery's most famous specialties, including homemade matzo ball soup, hand-sliced pastrami, corned beef, and chocolate babka.

In addition, the dinner will arrive undamaged regardless of how long the travel is: The soups, meats, and knishes are delivered frozen in a cooler; the soup is portioned out into individual servings and wrapped in bubble wrap; the meats and knishes are stored in bags that have been vacuum-sealed. The restaurant Katz's boasts that the dish is enough food for four people, making it ideal for a moderately sized dinner party — or for the sole diner whose mother is constantly nagging them to "eat something, bubbeleh!"

53. Easy Igniting

The matchsticks are manufactured from pinewood that has been kiln-dried and are available with either a red or black tip. They are also very strong and can be simply ignited with the striker that is attached to the exterior of the jar. If you have them on hand, you won't have to worry about the inevitable "find the matches!" panic, plus they look much more sophisticated sitting on the counter than a plastic Bic would.
